Operating Centers
SORPA operates 6 recycling centers. People bring their solid waste at their own expense and SORPA’s staff instruct them in how to place the sorted materials into the appropriate containers. Location map SORPA also publishes reading material to inform and educate the public about the classification and recycling of solid waste. The maximum amount of waste received at the recycling centers is 2 m3. Larger loads are brought to SORPA's Receiving Plant.
At some of SORPAs recycling centers we operate reception areas for deposit beverage containers (bottles and aluminium cans) to be recycled by another firm. Not at Dalvegur and Sævarhöfði.
Recycling centers are open:
Workdays: 12:30 - 19:30 except for Breidhella: 08:00 - 19:30
Weekends: 12:00 - 18:30
The reception for deposit beverage containers (bottles and aluminium cans) at Kjalarnes by Njarðargrund is open: Friday from 15:00 – 19:00
